Put the porridge, cinnamon and almond milk in a saucepan. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes over low heat.
When it’s creamy, turn off the heat, add the lemon juice and zest. Give it a stir, then put a lid on and rest for 5 minutes.
Meanwhile put the pitted cherries in a small sauce pan. Add the lemon juice, honey/syrup and almond extract.
Bring to the boil over medium heat and simmer for 5-8 minutes until you get a thick syrup around the cherries.
Spoon the porridge into two bowls, then spoon the compote on top. Drizzle with more syrup or honey, if you’d like it very sweet.
Scatter the toasted almond flakes on top and serve.
