Ingredients
  

  • 1 garlic clove minced (optional)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp rice vinegar
  • Dash of lemon juice
  • 1 tsp miso paste
  • 1 tsp honey
  • Sesame seeds for serving

Method
 

  1. Trim the tough ends from the asparagus.
  2. Steam the asparagus over boiling water, or grill them in a lightly oiled griddle pan until just tender.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, miso paste, rice vinegar, honey, sesame oil and lemon juice.
  4. Add the minced garlic if using, and mix well.
  5. Once the asparagus is cooked but still bright and crisp-tender, transfer it to a plate and brush immediately with the miso glaze.
  6. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve warm.
