Bat pizza

This shear and tear bat pizza is perfect for a Halloween party, specially for kids. I kept mine margherita style – but you can add pepperoni, onion, mushrooms and so on. Also, I used shop-bought dough, which I rolled-out more to be even thinner, but you can use home-made dough too.  Make sure the template is not too big for the rolled-out dough! Alternatively, you could make several smaller bat pizzas from one dough (or one big one and one small one from the leftover dough). You can use the leftover dough to make mini Halloween spider pizzas or Witch finger breadsticks etc.

Ingredients Method

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pizza dough
  • ½ jar pizza sauce
  • Grated cheddar
  • Mozzarella slices
  • Other topping of your choice optional
  • Pitted olives

Method
 

  1. Draw a bat shape on a cardboard then cut it out with scissors.
  2. Unroll the dough onto a large slightly dusted surface until it’s very thin, about 3-5 mm thick.
  3. Put the bat cardboard template on it and, using a knife, draw and cut around the shape. Use the leftover dough to do make another, smaller bat or mini Halloween spider pizzas, witch fingers etc.
  4. Move the cut-out bat pizza onto a baking sheet.
  5. Preheat the oven to 200°C.
  6. Spread the pizza sauce on the bat, then cover with some mozzarella slices , then add other toppings if you like.
  7. Finally, scatter the grated cheese on top.
  8. Bake for about 10 minutes.
  9. Cut an olive into rings and use two of them as eyes.
  10. Serve and have fun!
