BBQ pork steak with apple

I have a few “classic” recipes that I turn to when I have guests for Summer barbecues. One of them is thisBBQ pork steak with apple recipe, which is absolutely delicious, easy to make, gluten & dairy-free, and you basically can’t go wrong with it.  Sometimes I use Worcestershire sauce instead of cider which works really well. Serve it with  a potato and/or crispy salad, and other grilled veggies.

Ingredients

  • 4 pork leg steaks
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 1 apple
  • For the marinade:
  • 4 Tbsp apple cider or Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp cider vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp thyme leaves
  • 1 Tbsp oil
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Method

  1. Pat-dry the pork steaks, then dust & rub them with the garlic powder.
  2. Mix the ingredients of the marinade together.
  3. Place the steaks in a shallow dish (or a freezer bag) and pour over the marinade.
  4. Marinate in the fridge for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
  5. Preheat the BBQ or griddle pan, then cook the steaks for 3-5 minutes on each side (depending on their thickness).
  6. Meanwhile, core the apple, then cut it into 5mm rings. Coat these with the pork marinade then barbecue/grill them next to the steaks.
  7. Serve the pork steaks with the grilled apple slices.
