Dill leaves dal

Dill leaves have a strong favour and are very good for digestion. This strong flavour of the leaves gives a distinctive taste to the dal. This dal goes very well roti or steamed rice.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Bunch dill leaves
  • 1 Cup Pigeon peas lentil Toor dal
  • 1 Onion chopped
  • ½ tsp Cumin seeds
  • A pinch of turmeric
  • 1 tsp Chilli powder
  • ½ tsp Garam masala
  • 1 Tbsp Butter
  • Salt as required
  • 1 tsp Oil

Method
 

  1. Pressure cook the toor dal with 2 cups of water. Keep it aside.
  2. Heat the butter in a deep bottomed pan and add the cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  3. Add the onions and fry until soft.
  4. Now add the dill leaves and fry them for a minute.
  5. Add the turmeric, chilli powder, garam masala and salt. Take care not to burn all these powders.
  6. Add the boiled toor dal. Serve hot with roti or rice.
