Cut the dry fish and put the pieces in hot water for 15 minutes. Remove the pieces from water and clean them thoroughly.
Heat oil in a pan and then add the fish pieces. Sauté for 5 minutes. Remove the pieces from oil and keep aside.
In the same pan add some more oil and add the onions. Fry until brown. Add green chillies and ginger garlic paste and sauté for a minute.
Cut the brinjal into small pieces and add to the fried onions.
Add turmeric, red chilli, coriander and cumin powders. Mix well.
Add a little water and salt, cover with a lid and cook on a medium flame until done.
Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice.
