Easy Christmas cookies

Christmas is a joyous time of the year for our family and friends. Kids get excited about festivities and presents, and I get excited about food as well. My favorite is the fruit cake which is made by my friend for Christmas. But today the recipe is for Christmas cookies made by Alekya and it is a very easy recipe.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups white sugar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 egg
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup softened butter
  • Cookies cutters

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 190°C C.
  2. In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth.
  4. Add and beat in egg and vanilla. Blend in the dry ingredients.
  5. Cut the dough into 4 parts.
  6. Take a portion and press it into flatter circle about 1 inch.
  7. Roll the dough to ¼ inch thickness. Cut them with cookie cutters and place them gently onto the butter paper.
  8. Bake 10-15 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden.
  9. Cool completely on wire racks. Optionally decorate cookies with frosting and colored sugars.
