Grilled maple pork loin steaks

These spiced, grilled maple pork loin steaks are ideal for a BBQ party as they can be pre-cooked in the oven, then it only takes 5 minutes on the BBQ to finish them off. Alternatively, they are perfect for a mid-week family meal. Serve the steaks with a salad and a mash (sweet potatoes go really well with them).

Ingredients

  • 6 thin pork loin steaks
  • Salt & pepper
  • For the glaze:
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 2 Tbsp maple syrup
  • ½ Tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ginger powder
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ½ tsp ground turmeric

Method

  1. Mix the glaze ingredients in bowl then pour into a plastic freezer bag. Add the loin steaks, close the bag and massage them with the sauce to cover well. Rest or chill until needed.
  2. To BBQ: preheat the oven to 170°C. Place the steaks on a baking tray, season with salt and pepper. Reserve the marinade. Cover the tray with foil and cook for 20-25 minutes. Brush them with the leftover marinade, place them on the barbecue for 5 minutes, turning frequently.
  3. To Grill: place the steaks on a baking tray, season with salt and pepper. Brush them any leftover marinade. Place the tray under a pre-heated medium/high grill and cook for 14-16 minutes. Turn occasionally.
  4. Serve the loins with a salad and mashed sweet potatoes or potatoes.
