Grilled sardines with Harissa

This grilled sardines with harissa is a quick and easy recipe for a barbecue feast! It's spicy and zesty - ideal as a starter, part of a tapas menu or for a light lunch, served with some salad and perhaps flat-bread.

Ingredients
  

  • 8-12 cleaned &/or filleted sardines
  • 2 Tbsp harissa paste
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lemon zest and juice
  • 1 handful of parsley leaves

Method
 

  1. Preheat your barbecue or grill, but it shouldn't be too hot.
  2. Mince the garlic and chop the herbs, then mix these together with the harissa paste, lemon zest , olive oil and half of the lemon juice.
  3. Rub the fish all over with this paste, season with salt and pepper, then cook on the barbecue or grill for 3-4 minutes on each side.
  4. Squeeze over the the remaining lemon juice, and sprinkle with parsley.
