Mysore Bonda (Plain flour bajjias)

Mysore bonda is a snack which goes well with an evening tea. It can be easily made instantly. Since they are deep fried, they can be eaten occasionally, maybe for a get-together!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 ½ Cups Plain flour
  • ½ Cup Rice flour
  • ¾ Plain yogurt
  • ¾ Cup Water Or as required
  • 1 tsp Baking soda
  • Salt as required
  • 1 Tbsp Ginger chopped
  • 1 Green chilli chopped
  • 2 Tbsp of coriander leaves chopped
  • 2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • Oil for deep frying

Method
 

  1. Mix all the dry ingredients together.
  2. Add the ginger, green chilli and yogurt to it.
  3. Add water little by little to make a thick batter without lumps. Let this batter sit aside for 20 minutes.
  4. Heat oil for deep frying on medium flame.
  5. Spoon some batter and put it in the oil like dumplings (5-6 at a time).
  6. Let the dumplings fry in medium low flame for 4-5 minutes on each side.
  7. Place them on a kitchen towel to absorb the excess oil and serve hot with coconut chutney.
