Paneer peas masala

A delicious combination of soft paneer and healthy green peas in a mild spicy tomato based gravy, is a treat to taste buds anytime. The shallow fried paneer cubes brings in subtle taste and texture while cashew nut paste makes it rich and creamy.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup fresh green peas
  • 1 cup ½ inch cubed paneer ( cottage cheese)
  • 1 medium onion finely chopped
  • 1 green chilli chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 2 medium tomatoes chopped
  • 6 cashew nuts soaked in hot water
  • 1 Tbsp oil
  • ½ tsp red chilli powder
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • ½ tsp garam masala powder
  • ½ cup water
  • Salt to taste

Method
 

  1. Grind onion, green chilli in a blender to make medium coarse paste. Grind the tomatoes to make tomato purée. Grind cashew nuts with 2 Tbsp water until smooth paste.
  2. Heat 2 Tbsp oil in a pan and add onion paste and salt. Saute it until oil starts to separate.
  3. Add tomato purée and cook on medium flame.
  4. Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder and salt. Stir and cook for a minute. Add cashew nut paste. Cook for a minute.
  5. Add boiled peas and ½ cup water and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Add paneer cubes and cook for 2 minutes.
  7. Turn off flame and transfer the curry to a serving bowl. Serve with hot flavored rice or roti.
