Peanut Chutney

Peanut chutney is one of my favourite chutneys that goes well with dosa or idli. It has a distinctive nutty taste to it. I like it more than the coconut chutney!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Peanuts
  • 1 Green chilli
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 Garlic clove
  • ½" Tamarind piece
  • 1 Dry red chilli
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • A sprig of curry leaves
  • 1 tsp Oil
  • ½ tsp Sugar

Method
 

  1. Heat a pan, dry roast the peanuts and set them aside to cool down.
  2. Blend together, dry roasted peanuts, green chilli, cumin seeds, garlic clove, tamarind, sugar and salt adding water little by little to make a smooth paste. Put this blended paste in a serving bowl.
  3. In a pan, heat oil and add the mustard seeds and let them splutter.
  4. Add dry red chilli and curry leaves too. Pour this seasoning over the blended paste and mix.
