Raw banana fritters

Raw banana (or plantain) is actually one of my least favorite fruit/vegetable but when made in the form of fritters, it becomes a favourite! These fritters make a good tea time snack and very easy to make.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 Raw Bananas Plantains boiled with skin on
  • 1 Onion Finely chopped
  • 1 Green chilli Finely chopped, optional
  • 2 Tbsp Coriander leaves chopped
  • 1 tsp Chilli powder ½ tsp if you prefer less spice
  • Salt as required
  • 1 Tbsp Gram flour
  • 1 Tbsp Corn flour
  • Oil for deep frying

Method
 

  1. Pressure cook the raw bananas in water according to your pressure cooker specifications. Alternatively, these raw banana can be boiled in water on the stove directly.
  2. After the bananas are boiled, remove the skin and mash the bananas and keep aside in a bowl.
  3. Heat oil on medium flame for deep frying.
  4. To the mashed bananas, add onion, chilli powder, salt, green chilli, coriander leaves, gram flour and corn flour and mix thoroughly.
  5. Shape the mixture into small flat fritter and drop slowly into the heated oil for deep frying.
  6. Since the banana is already cooked, fry the fritter until brown on both sides. This should be done until all the mixture is exhausted.
  7. Serve hot with tea as snacks.
