Sesame Peas and Kale

Ingredients
  

  • 2 large handfuls of chopped kale
  • 1 cup green peas
  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp mirin
  • 1 tsp rice vinegar
  • 1 garlic clove minced (optional)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 tsp sesame seeds
  • 1 spring onion chopped (optional)

Method
 

  1. Steam the kale and peas over boiling water for about 5 minutes, until tender but still bright.
  2. Meanwhile, mix the soy sauce, mirin, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and garlic (if using) in a small bowl.
  3. Taste and adjust the dressing if needed.
  4. Transfer the steamed vegetables to a serving bowl and pour over the dressing.
  5. Toss well to coat.
  6. Finish with sesame seeds and spring onion.
  7. Serve warm or at room temperature as a side dish.
