White tiramisu

Tiramisu is one of the most popular desserts around the world - from the traditional to modern versions. This white tiramisu is made with white chocolate and instead of Mascarpone, I used vanilla custard for the cream. You can use homemade or ready-made custard, and add alcohol to the coffee - raspberry, cherry or almond liqueur would work well. (This is not suitable for children!). It’s an ideal dessert for garden parties and special occasions (such as Mother's Day, Valentine's Day, Anniversaries, etc.).

Ingredients

  • About 14 Lady fingers Savoiardi
  • 100 ml espresso coffee
  • 300 ml vanilla custard
  • 1 bar of white chocolate
  • Raspberries strawberries or blackberries

Method

  1. Melt half of the chocolate in a bowl, over simmering water. Grate the other half.
  2. When the chocolate has cooled, mix it with the custard.
  3. Pour the coffee into a shallow dish. Dip the lady fingers, each at a time, for a few seconds. They should not become soggy. Layer these in a dish or individual glasses, then spread over third or half of the custard (depending on the depth of the dish).
  4. Repeat the layering once or twice until you reach the edge of the glass. The custard should be the top layer.
  5. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  6. Sprinkle with the grated chocolate before serving, then garnish with some berries.
