Kheema (minced meat) and tomato curry

Kheema with tomato curry recipe is made with minced tender mutton meat. It is a very delicious recipe and is often made on Sundays in Indian households. This recipe is from my home town of Hyderabad and is a favorite of mine.

Ingredients
  

  • 500 gm minced tender mutton meat or kheema
  • 1 large sized onion finely chopped
  • 2 green chillies slit and cut
  • 1 Tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 3 Tbsp oil
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp red chilli powder
  • 2 medium size tomatoes finely chopped
  • ½ tsp garam masala powder
  • 2 cup water
  • 10-12 mint leaves finely chopped
  • ½ sprig curry leaves
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnishing

Method
 

  1. Wash the kheema thoroughly and strain out the excess water.
  2. Take a deep bottom vessel and add oil and heat it.
  3. Add sliced onions, green chillies and sauté until the onions turn very light brown color.
  4. Add ginger garlic paste and sauté to get rid of raw smell.
  5. Add kheema and water to it. Cover with a lid. Cook until the kheema is tender and cooked, and there is no water remaining.
  6. Add salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, mix well and fry for few minutes and cook until oil appears at the sides.
  7. Add chopped tomatoes, garam masala powder, curry leaves and mint leaves. Mix well and cook until the tomatoes turn soft.
  8. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.
