To marinate the fish, in a bowel add the thoroughly washed and clean fish fillets. To the fillets, add 1 tsp red chilli powder, 1 tsp ginger garlic paste, ¼ tsp turmeric powder and 1 tsp salt. Mix the ingredients and coat the fish fillets on both side. Set aside for 30 min.
Heat oil in a broad bottomed vessel on over medium flame. Add the chopped onions , green chillies and ginger garlic paste. Fry until the onions are light brown and the raw smell of ginger garlic paste is gone.
Place the fish fillets one by one.
After a minute, turn them gently, and fry on the other side for 2 minutes.
Add coconut paste, chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt, garam masala and water and mix gently.
Bring it to a boil, reduce flame, cover with lid and simmer for 15 minutes or till you get the consistency of your choice.
Garnish with coriander leaves. Serve hot with rice or roti.
