Curry-spiced beef burger
This curry-spiced beef burger has Indian flavours but South-East Asian influence too. The combination makes it rather interesting! Perfect for get-togethers, barbies and for those who like spicy food.
Ingredients
Method
- Heat half of the oil in a frying pan and soften the onion. Transfer to a plate to cool.
- Heat the remaining oil over medium heat, add the curry powder, grated garlic & ginger, turmeric, coriander, cumin and garam masala. Fry the spices until fragrant for a couple of minutes. Add more oil if the mixture is too dry. Let the spices cool.
- In a large bowl combine the meat with the spice mixture then add the onion and pepper and the spring onion & soy sauce. Season with salt and freshly cracked pepper. Cover the mixture and chill for at least an hour, preferably overnight.
- Divide the mixture into 4 equal sized portions and form patties between your palms. Brush them with oil, then grill, griddle or barbecue them to your liking.
- Rest them for five-ten minute before serving between lightly grilled buns or flat-bread filled with onion/tomato chutney, cucumber, lettuce and a spoonful of raita. Or serve with sweet potatoes and a salad.
