Oats pancake (Oats dosa)

Dosa is a famous kind of pancake in the South of India. This oats pancake is easy, instant and healthy too. These dosa are thin and crispy. They go very nicely with coconut chutney.

Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup Quick cooking oats
  • ¼ cup Rice flour
  • ¼ cup Semolina
  • ½ cup Plain yogurt
  • 1 Small onion chopped
  • 1 tsp Ginger chopped
  • 1 Green chilli chopped
  • ½ tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 ¼ cup Water
  • Salt as required
  • Oil or butter as required
  • A sprig of coriander leaves chopped

Method
 

  1. Grind the oats to make a powder.
  2. In a mixing bowl, mix together ground oats, rice flour, semolina and salt.
  3. Add yougurt and 1 cup water to a smooth consistency without any lumps.
  4. Add onion, ginger, green chilli and cumin seeds and mix.
  5. Keep this aside for 10 minutes.
  6. Check the consistency of the batter and add ¼ cup water. The consistency of the batter should be watery.
  7. Heat a pancake pan on medium, pour a ladle full of batter on the pan without spreading it with the ladle. Pour the batter from the circumference of the pan towards the centre without spreading with the ladle and filling the gaps with some more batter.
  8. Sprinkle oil on the edges and the middle of the pancake. Once the base becomes brown and crispy and the pancake is cooked, serve them hot with chutney.
