Background
Poppy seed pasta or noodles is a very popular dish in Hungary where it's called Mákos tészta. It's quite sweet and we normally serve it after a hearty one-pot soup or stew such as bean-goulash or fisherman's soup. Children particularly just love it!
Ingredients
- 250g dried pasta (tagliatelle or wide egg noodles )
- 100g ground poppy seeds
- 50g powdered sugar
- oil or butter
Instructions
- Cook the pasta according to the package instructions, then drain.
- Put it back into the saucepan and add a little oil or butter to prevent the pasta from becoming sticky.
- Mix the ground poppy seeds with the powdered sugar, then toss with the pasta.
- Serve warm.
Tips
- You can make ground poppy seed in a coffee grinder or mini food-processor.
- Any leftover pasta can be used up to make interesting muffins.
