Honey and balsamic baked figs with chestnuts

This honey and balsamic baked figs with chestnuts is a nice variation of the classic dish. Serve it as a pudding with vanilla ice-cream, custard, crème fraîche Greek yogurt. Alternatively, add it to your porridge, or use as toppings for waffles & pancakes.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 figs
  • 2 Tbsp Greek honey
  • 1 Tbsps. balsamic vinegar
  • Mint leaves
  • 1.2 cup roasted or cooked chestnuts
  • To serve: Greek yoghurt or crème fraîche

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  2. Cut the figs in half and put them in a small ovenproof dish.
  3. Roughly chop the chestnuts, then scatter them around the figs.
  4. Drizzle with the honey and balsamic vinegar, then bake for about 10-25 minutes, until soft and lightly caramelised.
  5. Garnish with mint leaves, then serve warm.
