Gingerbread cookies
Gingerbread men dough can be used for other shapes too during the winter holidays – for Halloween use moon, bat and ghost shapes, for Christmas use star, tree, bell shapes and so on. The recipe of these gingerbread cookies is worth remembering, as it’s a really easy bake yet the biscuits are absolutely yummy. Decorate them nicely – and you can give them to your friends as presents!
Ingredients
Method
- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- Mix the flour with the baking soda and spices. Rub in the butter with your finger tips then add the sugar and mix.
- Mix the syrup with the egg in a small bowl, then add this to the crumbs, and combine until you get a smooth dough. Knead it for a couple of minutes on a lightly floured work surface (like with bread dough).
- Roll it out to 5mm thickness then stamp out little people or festive shapes.
- Place the cookies onto a lined baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes until golden.
- Leave to cool on a wire rack, then decorate them with icing/chocolate pen if you like.
