Andhra mutton gravy

Andhra mutton gravy is popular recipe from southern state of Andhra Pradesh. This dish is spicy and very tasty. This one is a favorite of mine and usually made on Sunday and enjoyed by all in my household.

Ingredients
  

  • 300 g mutton cut into medium sized pieces
  • 2 large onions
  • 3 green chillis
  • 2 tsp red chilli powder
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 Tbsp oil
  • 2 tsp garam masala powder
  • 1 and ½ tsp ginger garlic paste
  • ½ tsp pepper powder
  • handful of coriander leaves finely chopped
  • ½ cup coconut and poppy seeds paste
  • Salt to taste

Method
 

  1. Wash and clean the mutton pieces thoroughly and pressure cook the mutton until soft. Keep aside.
  2. Take a heavy bottomed pan and add oil.
  3. To the oil, add onions and green chills and fry until the onions are translucent.
  4. Add ginger garlic paste to the onions and fry until the raw smell is gone.
  5. Add mutton pieces, chilli, turmeric powders and salt. Mix well and cook for 5 min.
  6. Add the coconut and poppy seeds paste and mix well. Cook for 10 min on low flame.
  7. Add the garam masala and pepper powder. Mix well.
  8. Garnish with chopped coriander and serve hot with rice or roti.
