Tomato mutton curry

Tomato mutton curry is a simple recipe from Hyderabad.  This is a must try dish which goes well with rice.

Ingredients
  

  • ½ kg mutton
  • 3 Tbsp oil
  • 3 medium onions finely chopped
  • 3 medium tomatoes finely chopped
  • 3 tsp coriander leaves
  • ½ tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • 4 green chillies
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • 1 Tbsp coconut milk
  • Salt to taste

Method
 

  1. In a pressure cooker, heat oil, add the mutton pieces and sauté, add 1 tsp ginger garlic paste and mix well.
  2. Add the salt, turmeric powder and fry well for about 3-4 minutes, add little water and pressure cook on low flame for about 5 whistles.
  3. Once cool, check if the meat is tenderized or not. Set aside.
  4. In a pan, add the onions, green chillies and fry till golden brown, add 1 tsp ginger garlic paste and sauté it well until raw smell disappears.
  5. Add cooked mutton, salt, red chilli powder, coriander powder, curry leaves, tomatoes and cook till the tomatoes are soft.
  6. Cook until a the gravy is thick. Add the garam masala, coconut milk and stir.
  7. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice.
