Olive and garlic bread

This is a tasty variation on theOlive Loafrecipe I did a while ago. The malted granary flour adds a nice nutty texture and malty flavour. The green olives add a bit of colour and piquancy, whilst the the garlic powder gives, well, a garlic flavour!

Ingredients

  • ¾ tsp Yeast
  • 100 g Strong Wholemeal Flour
  • 100 g Strong White Flour
  • 200 g Strong Malted Grain Bread Flour
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 3 Tbsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • ¼ tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 Tbsp Oregano dried
  • 270 mL Water
  • 50 g Whole Black Olives pitted
  • 50 g Whole Green Olives pitted

Method

  1. Add all the ingredients, except the olives, to the bowl of the bread machine.
  2. Select the programme appropriate to your machine for medium whole wheat raisin – about 5 hours. Use the delay timer if you want it for breakfast.
  3. Add the olives to the automatic dispenser. If your machine doesn’t have one, add them when the add ingredients beeper sounds – normally about 75 minutes into the cycle.
