Kheer is a very tasty Indian dessert made with milk and vermicelli, garnished with some nuts and raisins. This is quite simple and easy to make.
- Boil 500 ml milk on low heat until it reduces to half its volume. Let an adult help you.
- In a separate pan, add 1 Tbsp ghee or clarified butter and put it on low heat Let it melt and add 1 cup vermicelli to it.
- Fry the vermicelli until it starts getting brown but not burnt.
- Add this vermicelli to the reduced milk and boil until it becomes soft.
- Add 1 cup of sugar after the vermicelli becomes soft. Keep stirring until the sugar melts.
- In a pan, add 1 tsp ghee or clarified butter and add cashews and raisins to it. Fry them on medium heat.
- Garnish the kheer with the fried cashews and raisins.
- It can be eaten either hot or cold.
Tips:
- Take care not to burn the milk by stirring it.
- Take care not to burn the vermicelli while frying it.
- Any other nuts like almonds and pistachios (crushed) can be added to it for garnishing.
