Background
This chicken curry has evolved through cooking different varieties of chicken curries. This version of chicken curry is very easy and tasty. It can be made for parties andΒ events.
Ingredients
- ½ kg Chicken (Cut into medium sized pieces)
- 1½ Onions (Chopped)
- 1 Tomato
- 1' Ginger
- 2 Cloves garlic
- 1 Green chilli
- ½ Tbsp Coriander powder
- ¼ Tbsp Cumin powder
- ½ tsp Chilli powder
- ½ tsp Turmeric
- ½ tsp Garam masala powder
- ½ cup Grated coconut
- 4 Cashewnuts
- Oil as required
- Salt as required
Instructions
- Grind together tomato, ginger and garlic and set aside.
- Fry the cashew nuts with few drops of oil and grind to a smooth paste with the grated coconut adding water to it and set it aside.
- In a deep bottomed vessel, heat oil and add the onions and green chilli and fry until brown.
- Add the coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala powder, chilli powder, turmeric and salt and fry for a minute.
- Add the tomato mixture and fry until oil oozes out on the sides.
- Add chicken and the coconut cashew paste and cook under lid until the chicken becomes soft.
- Serve hot with roti or steamed rice.
