Background
I always make some cranberry sauce in advance for Christmas. This year I made apple and cranberry sauce which goes well both with poultry and pork so will last over the winter festivities!
Ingredients
- 2 Bramley apples
- 200g fresh cranberries
- 50 ml cider
- 2 Tbsp muscovado sugar
- 1 star anise
- Maple syrup or honey to taste
Instructions
- Peel, core and roughly chop the apple.
- Put the apple, cranberries, cider, sugar and star anise into a heavy-based pot then bring the boil and gently simmer over low heat for 15-20 minutes until you get a thick sauce.
- Turn off the heat and let it cool. Taste, add some honey or maple syrup if itβs not sweet enough.
- Chill in the fridge until needed.
