Background
This simple balsamic steak can be ready inΒ just 10 minutes. Serve it with mash and/or steamed veggies or sandwiched in a ciabatta bun with salad. Perfect meal for a midweek supper!
Ingredients
- 2 sirloin or rump steaks
- 1 clove garlic, pressed
- 2 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 2 sprigs of thyme
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- Serving:
- 1 Tbsp Dijon mustard
- 2 Tbsp Greek yogurt (optional)
Instructions
- Remove the meat from the refrigerator about an hour before cooking. Wipe it with paper towel.
- Mix the oil, vinegar, thyme leaves and garlic. Rub the steaks with the marinade, then rest.
- Heat a griddle or frying pan. Add the steak, together with the marinade, and cook for about 2- 3 minutes on each side for medium, or longer if you like it well done.
- Transfer the steaks onto a plate and let them rest (covered) for 5 minutes.
- Mix the yogurt with the mustard (optional).
- Serve with mashed potatoes or French fries - with the yoghurt & mustard sauce if you like.
Tips
If you like gravy, you can make a quick sauce when the steak is resting. Just add a glass of red wine and a drop of balsamic vinegar to the frying pan and reduce it to a thick sauce (you can even add the yoghurt and mustard to this sauce). Pour this over the steak when you serve it.© 2024 Copyright CookTogether
