Background
This balsamic burger is really easy to make. I used square shaped buns, so I cut the tofu into squares - but if want to have round buns or rolls, then cut the tofu with a large cookie or scone cutter to fit in the buns. Assemble the burger with your favourite toppings and condiments.
Ingredients
- 1 block hard tofu
- 1 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- Optional toppings: cooked beetroots, roasted pepper, spring onion or onion slice, lettuce, cucumber slices or gherkins, tomatoes or sun-blushed tomatoes
- 4 burger buns
Instructions
- Prepare the toppings and condiments of your liking and set them aside.
- Cut the buns in half.
- Cut the tofu into 1 cm thick squares or rounds that fit well in the buns.
- Mix the oil and balsamic vinegar, then brush the tofu patties with the mixture.
- Heat a griddle pan. When hot, caramelize the tofu patties on both sides.
- Meanwhile, lightly toast the buns.
- When the tofu is ready, assemble the burgers according to your liking.
- Serve warm.
