BBQ Cider Pork ribs
Background
This BBQ Cider Pork ribs is perfect for Summer parties as the first part of the recipe can be done in advance, the grilling/barbecuing only takes 10-15 minutes. For the glaze I used a special Honey Tennessee BBQ Glaze, but any shop-bought BBQ sauce would work or just use simple brown sauce. Serve the ribs with coleslaw, salad and grilled veggies.
Ingredients
- 750g meaty pork ribs
- 1 can of cider
- I bay leaf
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 star anise
- For the glaze:
- 1 Tbsp BBQ sauce or Brown Sauce
- 1 Tbsp ketchup
- 1 Tbsp honey or maple syrup
- 2 tsp cider vinegar
- ½ tsp paprika
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp dried oregano
- ½ tsp ground cumin
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp ground pepper
Instructions
- Put the ribs in a deep saucepan. Pour over the cider and enough water to cover them properly. Add the bay leaf, star anise and cinnamon stick. Bring to the boil and gently simmer for 20 minutes.
- Drain then set the ribs aside (or chill in the fridge until you’re ready to barbecue/grill them)
- Mix the glaze ingredients until well combined.
- Season the ribs, then using a silicon brush, coat each well and put them on a plate.
- Turn your BBQ/grill/griddle pan on and cook for about 10-15 minutes, until golden, sticky and slightly charred.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
