Bitter gourd in thick yogurt gravy

Background
Bitter gourd is a vegetables which is very healthy despite its bitter taste. I personally love bitter gourd and could eat it in any cooked form. This bitter gourd in thick yogurt gravy recipe is very tasty and doesn't have any bitterness in it after it is made.
Ingredients
- ½ Kg Bitter gourd (Cut into round, thin pieces)
- ½ Kg Onions (Sliced)
- 2 Tbsp Oil
- 2 tsp Ginger garlic paste
- 2 Tomatoes (Chopped)
- 1 tsp Turmeric
- 1 tsp Cumin powder
- 2 tsp Coriander powder
- 200g Plain yogurt
- 2 Onions sliced
Instructions
- In a pan, heat oil and add the sliced onions and fry until they are soft.
- Add turmeric, ginger garlic paste, tomatoes, cumin powder, coriander powder and the plain yogurt.
- Cook this mixture until the bitter gourd is cooked and becomes soft.
- Serve hot with steamed rice.
Tips
- Using same amount of onions as the bitter gourd removes the bitterness of the bitter gourd.
- Yogurt also helps reduce the bitterness.
