Black forest fruits oat crumble
Background
Crumble is a super easy dessert which is comforting all year round. This vegan Black forest fruits oat crumble has the fragrance and flavours of winter holidays so it’s a very suitable pudding during Thanksgiving and Advent. Furthermore it's dairy-free, and can easily be gluten-free if you’re using appropriate oats. Serve it with (plant-based) custard, ice cream or crème fraîche/ vanilla yoghurt.
Ingredients
- 500g frozen Black Forest Fruits, defrosted
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp mixed spice
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1.5 cup porridge oats
- 75g dairy-free spread
- 6 Tbsp muscovado sugar
- 3 Tbsp chopped nuts
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 170°C.
- Put the fruits in a bowl, add half of the cinnamon, the mixed spice, the vanilla and 4 spoonful of the sugar (add more if you have a sweet tooth).
- Spoon the mixture into 6 ramekins or one larger, deep baking dish.
- In an other bowl, mix the oats, remaining cinnamon & sugar, then add small lumps of the spread. Work them together with your fingers. Add the nuts too to the mixture or scatter them on top of the fruits - it’s up to you.
- Cover the fruits with the oat crumble.
- Put the dish/dishes in the middle of the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, until the topping is golden and the fruits are bubbling on the side.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
