Chipotle beef burger
Background
If you like Mexican flavours try these yummy, super easy chipotle beef burgers! I used extra spicy chipotle paste - if you ‘re using normal chipotle and want your patties fiery, do double the amount in the recipe or add chopped jalapeno/ chilli flakes to the mince. Serve with salsa & chutney in tortilla or buns - I used gluten-free rolls.
Ingredients
- 400g Steak mince
- 1 bunch spring onion
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp hot chipotle paste
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 2 tbsp chopped coriander
- Chilli pepper (optional)
- To serve: salsa, lettuce, jalapeno slices, chilli chutney
Instructions
- Finely chop the spring onion.
- In a large bowl, mix the mince and spring onion together with the Worcester sauce and chipotle paste. Add the spices, season with salt and pepper, then mix with your hands until the ingredients are well blended. Add the chopped coriander and combine.
- Divide the mixture into four patties, then rest them until you’re ready to grill them.
- Heat a BBQ and grill the patties on both sides over medium heat to your liking. Alternatively, heat a lightly oiled griddle pan and fry the patties on each side for 3-5 minutes, depending on how well-done you like your beef.
- Meanwhile toast/ grill your buns (cut in half) or heat some tortilla wraps.
- Whilst the patties are resting on a plate, layer the lower half of the buns with your chosen condiments and toppings. Add the patties, then top with the upper half of the bun and serve.
- Alternatively wrap the patties with salsa and sauces in the warmed tortilla sheets, or serve them with salsa for a low-carb meal.
