Background
Crispy kale is a more healthy snack than crisps - Β you can serve it at parties, picnics, as an appetizer and so on. You can easily add your favoriteΒ flavouring too! If you like Chinese crispy seaweed, do try this recipe. It tastes very similar but is made of curly kale and baked in the oven rather than deep-fried.
Ingredients
- 200 grams of curly kale, shredded
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 Tbsp sesame seeds
- 2 Tbsp cane sugar
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 190Β°C. Line a large baking tray with baking paper.
- Rinse the kale and dry thoroughly. In a large bowl mix it with the oil, salt and sesame seeds.
- Scatter the kale on the baking tray, spread out evenly. Sprinkle with 1 tablespoon sugar, then put in the oven for 7 minutes.
- Shake and turn the leaves around, then sprinkle with the remaining sugar .
- Bake for another 5-7 minutes or so, until crispy.
- Serve at room temperature.
Tips
You can adjust this recipe to give it different flavours. For example, instead of sugar and sesame seeds, add parmesan and lemon zest. To make it spicy add curry powder or ras el hanout. If you're after a healthier snack - just leave out the sugar.© 2025 Copyright CookTogether
