Curd Cheese Dill Puff Pastry Rolls
Background
These Curd Cheese Dill Puff Pastry Rolls are light and savoury - the prefect snack on their own, or a wonderful accompaniment to soups, stews or salads. You can easily adapt this recipe to suit your dietary needs — use gluten-free puff pastry for a coeliac-friendly version, or strain cottage cheese and mix in a little polenta if you can’t find curd cheese (sold as Twaróg in Eastern-European delis and many supermarkets).
These golden, crisp, and aromatic rolls are ready in just minutes — you can make them in an air fryer too for an even quicker option. Perfect for entertaining, picnics or snacking during the day.
Ingredients
- 250g Half Fat Curd Cheese (or strained cottage cheese mixed with 3 Tbsp polenta)
- 2 eggs
- ½ tsp salt
- 3 Tbsp fresh dill, finely chopped
- Zest of ½ lemon
- 1 sheet puff pastry (regular or gluten-free)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F), or set your air fryer to 180°C (355°F).
- Place the curd cheese in a mixing bowl and break it up with a fork. Add the eggs, dill, lemon zest, and salt. Mix well until smooth and evenly combined.
- Unroll the puff pastry on a clean surface.
- Spread the cheese mixture evenly over the pastry sheet, then roll it up tightly from the long edge to form a log.
- Cut the roll into 1.5 cm rounds using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.
- Arrange the slices on a lined baking sheet, leaving a little space between each one.
- Bake for about 15 minutes, until golden, puffed and crisp.
- In an air fryer, cook for about 10 minutes, until golden and flaky.
- Transfer to a wire rack to cool slightly before serving.
- Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
