Drumstick curry

Background
This south Indian curry is simple and easy to make. Drumsticks are pods of the Moringa plant and are considered to be a rich source of highly digestive proteins, calcium, vitamin c and iron. Drumstick curry is delicious and can be served as side dish with steamed rice or even roti.
Ingredients
- 5 drumsticks cut into 3β lengthwise pieces
- 2 Tbsp oil
- 2 medium size onions finely chopped
- 1 chopped green chilli
- ΒΌ tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- Β½ tsp mustard seeds
- Β½ tsp cumin seeds
- 1 spring curry leaves
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Heat oil in a deep bottomed pan on a medium flame. Add mustard seeds, allow them to splutter. Add cumin seeds and curry leaves sautΓ© for a minute.
- Add onions and green chillies and sautΓ© them for 5 minutes.
- Once the onions are cooked, add drumstick pieces, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and salt.
- Add one cup of water and cover with a lid and allow the drumsticks to cook under a low flame.
- Once the drumsticks are cooked and the gravy becomes thick, remove from the flame and transfer to serving bowl.
