Easy pie maker apple pie
Background
With an electric pie maker you can make many yummy sweet or savoury dishes. There are two different versions, making either one pie or 4 mini pies. This easy pie maker apple pie can be made in both. This version is vegan, but you can use all-butter shortcrust pastry and gluten-free types too. Serve it with (vegan or normal) ice cream or custard.
Ingredients
- 2 Granny Smith apples
- 2 Golden Delicious apples
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 2 Tbsp flour
- 3 Tbsp muscovado sugar
- 1 sheet ready-rolled shortcrust pastry
Instructions
- Peel, core and chop the apples into slices or chunks.
- Combine the sugar, flour and cinnamon in a bowl. Add the flour mixture to the apple slices and gently combine to coat the apple evenly.
- Preheat the pie maker according to the user manual.
- Unroll the pastry. Using a plate, cut out a circle, big enough to cover the base and the side well.
- Carefully place the pastry in the pie maker, then fill with the apple mixture.
- Cut another circle out of the pastry ( you might need to re-roll it) - this time it should be big enough to cover and slightly overlap the top of the pie. Make a couple of slits on the top with a knife.
- Press down the top lid and bake for about 25-30 minutes - the time depends on the pie maker.
- When the pastry is golden brown, the pie is ready.
- Turn off the machine and carefully move the pie to a plate.
- Dust with icing sugar, then slice and serve.
