Background
Goan dishes are very famous for their creamy and tasty sauces. The Goan cuisine has an influence of Portuguese food and is mostly seafood based. This Goan fish curryΒ recipe is very simple and easy to make. It goes well with steamedΒ rice.
Ingredients
- 2 Rainbow trout (boneless and cut into medium sized pieces)
- ½ Lemon
- Salt as required
- 1 Onion chopped
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds
- 1 tsp Tumeric
- To blend:
- 4 Garlic cloves
- 4 Kashmiri red chillies (Dry red chillies)
- 1 Tbsp Coriander seeds
- 1 Cup coconut grated
- 1½" lump of tamarind, soaked in water
- 2 Green chillies
- 1 Tbsp Oil
Instructions
- Marinate the fish in ½ lemon juice and salt for 10 minutes.
- Blend together garlic, red chillies, coriander seeds, coconut and tamarind together with little water to make a smooth paste.
- In a deep bottomed vessel, heat oil and add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add onion and green chillies and fry until the onion is brown.
- Add turmeric and the blended paste and cook until the fish is done. Serve hot with steamed rice.
