Background
These Halloumi Ghosts are crispy on the outside, soft and cheesy on the inside, perfect for your festive table. Made with just two ingredients, this easy Halloween recipe takes only 5 minutes to cook and makes a lively addition to any Halloween buffet, party platter, or even spooky sandwiches and Halloween pizzas.
Halloumi is the perfect cheese for this recipe because it holds its shape beautifully when fried, giving you those golden edges and chewy texture that everyone loves. With just a touch of balsamic glaze for “eyes,” you can turn simple cheese slices into adorable (and edible!) mini ghosts that kids and adults will enjoy.
👻 Serving Ideas
- Serve on a Halloween party platter with dips and spooky snacks.
- Add to Halloween sandwiches or wraps for a fun surprise.
- Place on top of mini pizzas for a ghostly topping.
- Pair with roasted vegetables or couscous for a themed dinner idea.
Ingredients
- 1 block natural halloumi cheese
- Balsamic vinegar glaze (for decorating)
- A little olive oil, for frying
Instructions
- Cut the halloumi into 6 slices, each about 1 cm thick. If needed, gently widen the lower part of each slice where the cheese naturally splits — this helps create the ghost-like shape.
- Add a small drizzle of olive oil to a non-stick frying pan and heat over medium-high.
- Fry the halloumi slices for 2–3 minutes per side, or until they turn light golden brown and slightly crispy.
- Transfer the fried halloumi slices to a plate and let them cool slightly.
- Use the balsamic glaze to draw small eyes (and even a mouth, if you like) to turn your halloumi into little ghosts.
