Background
If you want to make some easy treats for Halloween this recipe is a must! More importantly kids just love it. These orange lanterns with jelly can be healthy or vegan too if you use sugar-free and/or natural jelly powder.
Ingredients
- Natural jelly powder, sheet or cubes
- Oranges
- Water or Orange juice
Instructions
- Mix the jelly with water in a jar according to packaging instructions (use slightly less water), and put it in refrigerator for about one hour until set.
- Wash the oranges, cut off their tops (about a quarter), then carefully scrape out the orange flesh with a spoon.
- Draw a scary face on the orange skin and, using a craft knife, cut the shapes out.
- When the jelly is fully set take it out of the fridge and mash it up with a fork. Fill the oranges with the jelly and put the top back on.
Tips
- Don't throw away the orange flesh - juice it and use it for the jelly instead of water.
- Or make a fruit salad, smoothie, marinade and so on.
