Honey and soy glazed tofu
Background
You can very quickly and easily make these lovely little snacks which you can then nibble on during the day or serve at a party as a vegan appetizer. Alternatively, put these honey and soy glazed tofu triangles on top of an Asian-inspired salad, stir-fried vegetables or stew.
Ingredients
- 1 pack of extra firm tofu (about 350g)
- 1 Tbsp neutral oil
- 3 Tbsp honey
- 3 Tbsp soy sauce
- 2 Tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp sesame seeds
- 1 tsp crushed chilli flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Mix honey, soy sauce, vinegar, sesame seeds and chilli flakes (if used) in a bowl, set aside.
- Pat-dry the tofu, cut it into 1cm thick slices, then cut diagonally to create 2 triangles per slice.
- Heat the oil in a frying pan and fry the tofu for 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden.
- Add the mixture to the pan, and turn the heat down. Cook for another 10 minutes or so (flipping them a couple of times) until the sauce is reduced to a sticky glaze and the tofu is slightly caramelized.
- Serve then warm on top of a salad or let it cool and serve as snacks. Scatter some sesame seeds over the top.
