Maple glazed BBQ pork loin steaks

Background
Thin pork loin steaks are perfect for Summer Barbecues. They can be grilled very quickly, but they can dry out easily, so I like to marinate (tenderise) the meat for a few hours. These maple glazed BBQ pork loin steaks are sweet and sour due to the marinade but, more importantly, really tender and moist. You could use runny, not too sweet honey instead of maple syrup, such as Acacia or orange blossom. Serve it with potato salad, grilled veggies or in a bun as a sandwich.
Ingredients
- 500g pork thin loin steaks
- For the marinade:
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 Tbsp maple syrup
- 2 tsp Dijon mustard
- Β½ lime, juiced
- 1 tsp paprika
- Β½ tsp cayenne (optional)
- Β½ tsp garlic powder
- Pinch of turmeric (optional)
Instructions
- Mix the marinade ingredients in bowl.
- Lay about 3-4 steaks next to each other in a shallow dish. Brush them well with the marinade, turn them over, then put the remaining steaks on top and brush those too with the remaining marinade. Cover and chill for a couple of hours or overnight if time allows.
- Heat your grill, BBQ or griddle pan. Season the pork steaks with salt and pepper, then gently barbecue over low heat or fry them for 3-5 minutes on both sides.
- Serve them warm with your chosen side dish.
