Orange and walnut brownies
Background
Brownies are incredibly easy to make - you can't really go wrong with them! Even if it's cracked on the top, or it's not cooked through, or it's crumbly - these qualities actually define a good homemade brownie! These orange and walnut brownies are really yummy and especially suitable during the winter holiday season andΒ for Valentine's Day, Mother's Day orΒ other celebrations. And they can be Β ready in just 30 minutes!
Ingredients
- 200g butter or dairy-free margarine
- 350g dark chocolate (good quality, minimum 70%)
- 200g walnuts, finely chopped
- 2 organic orange, grated zest only
- 4 eggs
- 350g light cane sugar
- 200g sifted flour
Instructions
- Half-melt the butter and chocolate over a low temperature. Turn off the heat and allow to melt completely. Let it cool.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- Grease a 25 Γ 30 cm baking tray and line with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, lightly beat the eggs, then add the sugar and beat until creamy. Stir in the grated orange zest and walnuts. Fold in the butter-chocolate mixture then sift in the flour. Mix gently (do not over-stir!)
- Transfer the batter into the baking tray, spread it out evenly.
- Bake for about 25 minutes, until jut cooked through (the middle should remain a little s sticky).
- Let it cool in the tin, then cut into cubes.
- Dust with icing sugar before serving, if you like.
Tips
Put the cooled cake into the fridge for 30 minutes before slicing - it then won't crumble so much!Categories
