Pan-seared venison steak
Background
Venison is a healthy lean meat, which is nowadays widely available at supermarkets, particularly during the hunting season. Pan-seared venison steak Japanese-style is ready in 10 minutes, so itβs ideal for a quick mid-week supper - or as an easy main at a dinner party I served it with noodles and green beans, but you can serve it with rice or a salad if you like.
Ingredients
- 2 venison steaks
- 4 Tbsp Japanese soy sauce
- 2 Tbsp Mirin
- 1 tsp honey
Instructions
- Mix the soy sauce, honey and Mirin in a shallow bowl. Place the steaks in the bowl, rotate them to cover well with the marinade. Rest for two hours, turning the over regularly.
- Heat some oil in a pan and fry the steaks on each side for a couple of minutes (the time should depend on your liking and the thickness of the steak), then transfer them to a plate.
- Pour the marinade into the pan and reduce it to a thick sauce.
- Cut the steak into slices and serve immediately.
