Paneer and peas curry
Background
Paneer which is fresh white cheese which is very popular in the northern part of India. It is most popular among vegetarian dishes made in India and it doesn't melt away when cooked. It goes well with the spices in any curry based gravy. This recipe with paneer and peas is most popular dish which goes well with roti or naan.
Ingredients
- ½ cup Frozen peas
- 250g Paneer
- 3 Tomatoes
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds
- 1 Tbsp Ginger garlic paste
- 1 tsp Garam masala powder
- 2 tsp Coriander powder
- ½ tsp Turmeric
- ½ tsp Chilli powder
- ½ tsp Paprika
- Salt as required
- ½ tsp Sugar
- 1 Tbsp Corn starch
- 1 Tbsp Oil
Instructions
- Mix the corn starch with 3 Tbsp. of water and set aside.
- Blend all the tomatoes together and make paste.
- Heat oil in a deep bottomed vessel and add the cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add the tomato paste and add ginger garlic paste, turmeric, garam masala, chilli powder, coriander powder, salt and paprika.
- Cook until the oil oozes out on the sides.
- Add the peas and ¼ th cup water and cook until the peas are soft.
- Add the paneer cubes and the corn starch to thicken the gravy. Serve hot.
