Paneer peas masala

Background
A delicious combination of soft paneer and healthy green peas in a mild spicy tomato based gravy, is a treat to taste buds anytime. The shallow fried paneer cubes brings in subtle taste and texture while cashew nut paste makes it rich and creamy.
Ingredients
- 1 cup fresh green peas
- 1 cup ( ½ inch cubed ) paneer ( cottage cheese)
- 1 medium onion finely chopped
- 1 green chilli chopped
- 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
- 2 medium tomatoes chopped
- 6 cashew nuts soaked in hot water
- 1 Tbsp oil
- ½ tsp red chilli powder
- ¼ tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- ½ tsp garam masala powder
- ½ cup water
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Grind onion, green chilli in a blender to make medium coarse paste. Grind the tomatoes to make tomato purée. Grind cashew nuts with 2 Tbsp water until smooth paste.
- Heat 2 Tbsp oil in a pan and add onion paste and salt. Saute it until oil starts to separate.
- Add tomato purée and cook on medium flame.
- Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder and salt. Stir and cook for a minute. Add cashew nut paste. Cook for a minute.
- Add boiled peas and ½ cup water and cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Add paneer cubes and cook for 2 minutes.
- Turn off flame and transfer the curry to a serving bowl. Serve with hot flavored rice or roti.
