Peanut chutney

Background
Peanut chutney is ย mildly spicy and makes a tasty side dish for several snack foods and breakfast dishes like Dosa, Idly, Medhu vada. This chutney also doubles as spicy spread for sandwiches and easy to make.
Ingredients
- 1 cup raw peanuts
- 1 Tbsp oil
- 4-5 whole dry red chillies
- 1 Tbsp tamarind paste
- 1 medium size onion chopped
- 2 garlic pods
- ยฝ tsp cumin seeds
- ยฝ tsp mustard seeds
- 1 spring curry leaves
- 1 cup water
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Shallow fry peanuts and red chillies in a pan over medium heat for 3 minutes.
- Transfer to a blender and grind them to a coarse powder.
- Add chopped onion, cumin seeds, garlic pods, salt and tamarind paste.
- Add water and blend it into a smooth paste and transfer to a bowl.
- Heat oil in the same pan and add mustard seeds, when they splutter, add curry leaves.
- Remove from the flame and pour it over chutney.
- Serve the chutney as side dish for idly, dosa or any other snack item.
