Background
Pork & pineapple is a classic and very popular combo, particularly in South-East Asian cuisines. This pork and pineapple stir-fry is an easier version of the other popular dish called sweet-and-sour pork. It's perfect for a Chinese meal or for a party - the cooking only takes 6 minutes!
Ingredients
- 500g pork
- 2 Tbsp peanut oil
- 3 Tbsp chopped garlic
- 250g fresh pineapple cut into small pieces
- 2 Tbsp chopped coriander
- 1.5 Tbsp soy sauce (dark)
- 2 tsp sugar
- garnish: coriander leaves
- Marinade:
- 2 tsp soy sauce (light)
- 2 tsp Chinese rice wine (or dry sherry)
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 2 tsp cornstarch
Instructions
- Cut the meat into 5 cm long, thin strips. Mix the marinade in a bowl, add the pork pieces, toss well. Set aside.
- Heat the wok and add the peanut oil. When the oil starts looking smoky, add the garlic and fry for a few seconds until golden.
- Drain the pork strips, add to the oil and stir-fry for 3 minutes.
- Add the pineapple chunks, coriander, soy sauce and sugar, then stir-fry for 3 minutes.
- Serve sizzling hot with coriander leaves scattered on top.
Tips
You can use canned pineapple too - but drain it well and add less sugar to the stir-fry.© 2026 Copyright CookTogether
