Puff pastry wrapped asparagus
Background
If you're after some easy party nibbles or savory snacks then do try these puff pastry wrapped asparagus sticks. Incredibly easy to make, can be prepared and can be eaten warm or cold. This is the basic recipe, but feel free to brush the pastry with some tasty or spiced spread or sauce such as harissa paste, pesto, cream cheese, Parmesan, chilli sauce and so on.
Ingredients
- 1 bunch Asparagus
- 1 sheet Puff Pastry (ready rolled)
- 1egg, beaten
- Sesame Seeds
- 2-3 Tbsp spread of your choice (optional)
Instructions
- Wash and trim the asparagus.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Put the puff pastry onto a large chopping board. Roll it out onto its own wrapping paper, and brush it with your chosen sauce (if liked). Cut the sheet into 1cm wide strips.
- Wrap each asparagus with the puff pastry from one end to the other. Place the wrapped asparagus on the baking sheet, evenly spaced.
- Brush the egg onto the puff pastry and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake for about 15 minutes until the puff pastry is golden.
- Transfer them to a wire rack to cool slightly or completely.
Tips
Make cheesy twirls from any leftover pastry strips - just sprinkle them with Parmesan cheese and twist them!Categories
